I’m trying something new this next month to study daily courage through Scripture: posting every day about what God’s teaching me through Scripture and life about courage.Â
I’ve got a list of 31 verses about courage (including related topics like strength, fear not, encourage) and each day I’m going to be on the lookout for courage in the real lives of the people around me. I’ll also be praying through how God wants me to show courage in my life as well.
What does courage mean?
Merriam Webster defines courage as: “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.”
When we look at courage through the lens of Scripture, I think we get an even better perspective: the “mental/moral strength” comes not from ourselves but from God! From reliance on His character and promises
Why study courage?
I believe that God calls us to courage as we follow Him. Especially after doing the research into these verses on Scripture, I’m even more convinced that God wants us to walk in courage each day. That He designed us to persevere and gives us all the tools to do so.Â
But let’s be real: life is difficult, scary, stressful, and draining – sometimes all at once! I’m personally in a season of overload that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. So many times I’ve almost said, “Not now. It’s too much, save this for another time.”
And then God will bring me to another Scripture on courage, on trust, on walking with Him, on finishing the work He’s called me to.Â
We, my dear sisters, desperately need God’s strength to walk with courage. We need courage to face each moment, each day, each season of our lives. So why not study courage?Â
How will this work?
Like I said, I don’t want to do this alone! So consider this your invitation to join me inside my free community, the Rising to Courage network, where you’ll get the download for all the same Scripture I’ll be studying. Not only that, you’ll get to connect with sisters in Christ who are studying the same verses and applying them as God leads.Â
Remember, Rising to Courage is free and safe! It’s not social media, so you’ll never see an ad either. Mom and I created this space as a way to walk more closely with sisters in Christ around the world, and I’d love to see you there.Â
Each day in October, I’ll share a blog post here about what God’s teaching me. Then, I’ll start the conversation with you in Rising to Courage and be totally blessed by the unique and beautiful ways God is walking you through courage this month.Â
Final thoughts
If this isn’t your jam, don’t worry about it. Showing up with courage looks different in each season and for each person. This is what God’s calling me to do this month. What He wants from you may be different. But I’m here for you and I’d love to walk through this with you. And it’s never too late to join, even if it’s October 31st when you read this.Â
Love ya, sis. Stay courageous.
