Courage Dear exists to provide personal leadership resources for Christian women who…
It exists to show you that you are not alone in your pursuit of faith, excellence, and growth.
When you feel you’ve tried and failed one too many times, we are here to encourage and empower your walk with Christ.
The blog posts, downloadable resources, community, and coaching found here are all for you, to give you the courage to stand up and try again, to steward will for God’s glory and your good.
One of our favorite book series is C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia.
Courage Dear’s name is inspired by this line from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, after they escape from the nightmarish, horrifying darkness:
“But no one except Lucy knew that as it circled the mast it had whispered to her, “Courage, dear heart,” and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan’s, and with the voice a delicious smell breathed in her face.”
God is our light to guide, our strength through the darkness, and our joy on the other side. He is the reason we can have courage.
And He is the reason we started this business to serve you and help you grow.
In case you can’t tell from this picture…we are related! We are a mother (Kris) and daughter (Kayla) team of fast-talking, Jesus- loving women.
After growing in faith together throughout our lives, diving deep into Bible studies together, and walking through many seasons of life together, we started to see a gap in the resources for believing women in our lives.
I (Kayla) have three younger sisters and growing up in a house full of girls has made me the woman I am today. I (Kris), have taught in women’s Bible studies for years in addition to raising these four young women, so it just made sense to work together as women, for women.
When we considered launching a business together, one of the first things we knew was that we wanted to help women like us: women who loved Jesus and wanted to grow personally but who were frustrated with the lack of solid, Biblical resources in the personal development space.
Our world is full of quick fixes, life hacks, and inspirational quotes. We personally found so much of this when we started becoming more interested in personal development. Unfortunately, this field is inundated with guilt-tripping and unhelpful self-help. As women, we are expected to do it all but not told how, especially not how to do it God’s way.
Phrases like “look within yourself” and “follow your calling” are tossed around and they have two main problems:
So we try harder, burn out faster, and get discouraged more easily in a miserable downward spiral. We look outward in a messed up combination of comparison and judgment, we look inward with shame, and we forget to look upward to the God who made us and loved us.
We, as humans, don’t have everything figured out. But God has given us an opportunity to come alongside other women to provide things like:
You don’t have to fight the uphill battle alone. You don’t have to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. And you don’t have to sift through the world’s advice any longer just to find the tiny nugget of truth to apply.
We are constantly growing alongside each other and alongside the women who have begun this journey with us. We are confident in God’s promise to finish the good work He has started in us.
We provide a range of resources and opportunities to dive in so that there’s something for every woman who comes across this page. Whether it’s a new Bible study method, courses that help you actually apply what you’re learning, or a Bible study with other believers – you can find it here.
Whatever season of life, whatever step on your journey of faith, you don’t have to walk it alone.
Trust us – we’ve tried the solo route and it’s no fun. God designed us for community, and once we finally stopped trying to do it alone (including starting business alone instead of together!) we got to experience the joys of doing things together.
One last piece of encouragement: you are worth the effort. Personal growth and stewardship is hard work. But God has called you to hard, beautiful things and promises to be with you every step of the way. So set aside fear and dive in.
You won’t regret it.
